Lockheed Martin reveals new secret missile, fast tracks production

Lockheed Martin disclosed that its classified AIM-260 Joint Advanced Tactical Missile is moving toward accelerated production under a new Pentagon framework. Designed for the F-22 and F-35, the long-range air-to-air weapon is intended to counter increasingly capable Chinese missiles and aircraft. Technical performance, unit pricing, and most program milestones remain classified, but testing has intensified as the services prepare for wider fielding. Lockheed also plans to fund manufacturing improvements, while future multiyear procurement could provide the stable demand needed to expand output and sustain wartime replacement needs.
