Lockheed's HIMARS FLEX Doubles Loadout and Lines Up PAC-3 Edge Interceptors
Lockheed Martin is developing HIMARS FLEX as a modular launcher with a dual-pod configuration that doubles its offensive loadout and adds proposed air and missile defense options. The FLEXFires architecture supports existing NATO-compatible munitions, including GMLRS, Extended-Range GMLRS, PrSM and ATACMS, while the company identifies PAC-3 interceptors among its planned defensive integrations. The launcher is designed to retain C-130 transportability on the XM1140 chassis and connect with joint fire-control networks. PAC-3 Edge is listed as a future integration option, with interceptor testing planned from 2027 and deployment targeted for 2031 rather than an existing operational capability.
