Mossberg and CSG Develop Shotgun-Armed SwarmShot Drone Interceptor

Federal Ammunition, Mossberg and Palladyne AI announced a joint effort to develop SwarmShot, a shotgun-armed autonomous drone interceptor for counter-UAS missions. The initial concept integrates a purpose-built airborne weapon module and ammunition with Palladyne’s Gremlin-X Group 1 quadcopter and its autonomous swarming software, with a later kit envisioned for third-party aircraft. The companies intend the reusable interceptor to engage hostile small drones through coordinated kinetic attacks while reducing dependence on expensive missiles. SwarmShot remains a development program rather than a fielded military system, and no government customer, contract value, procurement quantity or operational date has been disclosed.
