NATO selects Saab's GlobalEye for future airborne early warning fleet as Alliance opens talks on up to ten systems

NATO has selected Saab's GlobalEye to replace its aging E-3A AWACS fleet, with negotiations opening for up to ten aircraft. The Swedish AEW&C platform, based on the Bombardier Global 6000, features Erieye ER radar with improved drone and cruise missile detection. The decision marks a rare European win over Boeing's E-7 Wedgetail. Deliveries are expected to begin later this decade.
