Navantia and Larsen and Toubro collaborate to offer LHDs to the Indian Navy
Navantia and Larsen & Toubro signed a strategic agreement to cooperate on an Indian Navy requirement for four large amphibious assault ships. The team plans to base its proposal on Navantia’s experience with the Juan Carlos I and related Canberra-class landing helicopter dock designs, combined with L&T’s Indian engineering and shipbuilding capacity. The vessels would be intended for amphibious operations, aviation support, humanitarian assistance and other naval missions, with local industrial participation central to the bid. The agreement establishes a partnership for the forthcoming competition and does not represent an Indian Navy selection, construction contract, contract value or confirmed delivery schedule.
