Northrop Grumman adds capacity for 300 strike missiles a year in West Virginia amid $2 billion munitions production drive

Northrop Grumman is expanding the Allegany Ballistics Laboratory in West Virginia to add capacity for approximately 300 strike missiles annually. The project introduces greater automation and digital process controls and forms part of a wider $2 billion company investment in munitions capacity. Northrop is also establishing production for ductile-iron 155mm artillery shell bodies, with potential output of 150,000 units per year. The laboratory employs about 1,700 people and works with 35 suppliers; the company has not identified every missile type covered by the new capacity or provided a complete ramp-up schedule.
