Northrop Grumman delivers first 21 of 150 planned satellites for U.S. military communications and missile defense network

Northrop Grumman has delivered the first 21 satellites of a planned 150-satellite constellation supporting U.S. military communications and missile defense tracking to Vandenberg Space Force Base. The satellites form part of the Space Development Agency's Transport Layer, which is designed to provide low-latency, jam-resistant data relay and missile warning coverage for joint force operations globally. Delivery of the initial tranche represents a significant production milestone for one of the most consequential U.S. military space programs currently underway, with the full constellation intended to provide continuous global coverage.
