Northrop Grumman to upgrade U.S. Army’s IBCS for greater mobility and battlefield survivability
Northrop Grumman will build two mobile command-workspace prototypes for the US Army's Integrated Battle Command System under a $21 million contract, with delivery due by June 2027. The new Integrated Collaborative Environment replaces the original tent-based arrangement with an expandable van accommodating six operator workstations and four staff stations. Its configurable interior and protected structure are intended to improve survivability and shorten deployment and dismantling times while retaining IBCS mission functions. IBCS fuses distributed sensor information into a common air picture and supplies fire-control-quality tracking, allowing the workspace upgrade to support the Army's existing integrated air-and-missile-defence network.
