Norway achieves orbit with launch of German Spectrum rocket

Norway has achieved its first orbital launch after Isar Aerospace's Spectrum rocket lifted off from Andøya Spaceport on September 5. The 28-metre vehicle reached orbit a little more than seven minutes after launch, marking the first orbital payload mission from European soil and the German company's second attempt. The success follows a March 2025 inaugural flight that ended shortly after liftoff and provides a milestone for Europe's small-launch market. Further missions are still required to demonstrate repeatability, customer service cadence and commercial reliability; one successful flight does not establish routine operational capability.
