Norway forms K9 Vidar artillery battalion in Arctic north, adding 155mm firepower amid growing security concerns over Russia
Norway has officially formed a new artillery battalion equipped with the K9 Vidar self-propelled 155mm howitzer in the northern Arctic region. The battalion significantly enhances Norway's organic long-range fires capability on NATO's northern flank. The K9 Vidar is the Norwegian-licensed variant of the Hanwha K9 Thunder, optimised for Arctic operations. Formation of the unit directly responds to heightened security concerns following Russian military activity in the High North.
