Nuclear workforce passes a hundred thousand across sectors

Early findings from Britain's Nuclear Workforce Assessment show combined civil and defense employment rising from 83,000 people in 2023 to more than 100,000 in 2025. The Defence Nuclear Enterprise accounts for over 47,000 workers and expects demand to reach about 65,000 by 2030. In its first two years, the Nuclear Skills Plan recruited more than 2,000 graduates and 4,000 apprentices, including about 4,400 people for defense-nuclear roles. Government investment will also fund over 500 doctoral positions across eight years, while industry, universities, and regional programs address mid-career transfers and growth at Barrow.
