A Pentagon assessment concluded that Operation Epic Fury placed heavy pressure on US munitions inventories and exposed persistent defence-industrial bottlenecks. High consumption rates highlighted limited surge capacity, long component lead times, constrained suppliers, and the difficulty of replacing sophisticated weapons quickly during sustained operations. The findings reinforce calls for larger stockpiles, multiyear orders, supplier diversification, and investments in production equipment and workforce. Rebuilding inventories will take time because output depends on energetics, electronics, propulsion, and other specialized inputs that cannot be expanded through final-assembly funding alone.
