Pakistan's China-made HQ-17AE system to boost drone defence in future India war

A Pakistan Air Force promotional video showed a wheeled system identified by Chinese media and analysts as the HQ-17AE short-range surface-to-air missile. The export design carries eight ready missiles with integrated search and engagement radars and is intended for drones, cruise missiles, helicopters and low-flying aircraft. It could complement Pakistan’s longer-range Chinese systems and new Turkish gun-based defenses. Islamabad did not formally identify the vehicle or disclose a contract, quantity, delivery date or operating unit, so firm claims about acquisition details should remain qualified despite the apparent public display.
