Pentagon buys Israeli smart rifle sights to shoot down drones
The Pentagon's Joint Interagency Task Force 401 awarded Smart Shooter a three-year indefinite-delivery contract with a ceiling of $150 million for SMASH fire-control sights, software, training and support. The computer-vision system tracks a selected aerial target and permits a shot only when alignment meets the firing solution, helping ordinary rifles engage small drones more effectively. The ceiling does not guarantee full spending or a fixed quantity; individual task orders under the Domestic Shield effort will determine how many units are bought and where they are deployed.
