Raytheon Wins $8B Deal to Restart Nuclear Strategic Communications Terminals
The US Air Force awarded Raytheon a sole-source contract with an $8 billion ceiling to modernize and restart production of Strategic Communications Terminals supporting nuclear command and control. The cost-plus-fixed-fee, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity agreement covers developmental modernization, production restart services and associated technical studies for the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center. Work is scheduled in Marlborough, Massachusetts, and Largo, Florida, through October 12, 2036, with individual orders defining subsequent activity. The service initially obligated $800,000 in fiscal 2026 research and development funding, so the headline ceiling does not represent an immediately funded $8 billion purchase.
