Rocket Motor Maker X-Bow Wins $69.7M Navy Interceptor Booster Deal

X-Bow Systems has received a Navy prototype agreement worth up to $69.7 million to develop a solid-rocket booster for an unnamed next-generation interceptor. The initial $50.4 million phase covers a twelve-month design and development effort, with $50 million obligated at award; a subsequent $19.3 million qualification phase remains optional. Work will span California, New Mexico and Texas and use a modular motor architecture intended to support scalable manufacturing. X-Bow plans production tooling at Luling, Texas, for capacity of 500 motors annually, although the agreement does not identify the interceptor or constitute an order for that production volume.
