Royal Canadian Navy Adds Agentic AI to Ship Maintenance With Thales, Cohere

Thales Canada and Cohere received a funded task order to introduce agentic artificial intelligence into Royal Canadian Navy maintenance and logistics under the AJISS in-service support contract. Announced on October 6, the work is supported by Thales' Montreal-based cortAIx accelerator and covers selected support functions and workflow coordination. Naval personnel will retain oversight as the tools assist routine administrative tasks associated with maintaining ship availability. AJISS supports Harry DeWolf-class patrol vessels and Protecteur-class support ships, but the companies did not identify initial ship assignments, deployment architecture, contract value or duration.
