Royal Thai Air Force To Restructure Combat Wings, Boost Uncrewed Fleet
The Royal Thai Air Force plans to consolidate frontline combat aircraft into Wings 1, 4 and 7 while expanding uncrewed aviation and reallocating other wings to transport and special missions. The ten-year restructuring envisages a smaller force with crewed and unmanned aircraft operating together, supported by stronger joint targeting and command networks. Procurement priorities include unmanned combat aircraft, precision-guided weapons, long-range strike capability and improved protection of air bases against drones and missiles. The first phase of the already purchased Barak MX air-defense system is expected in 2029, but the restructuring announcement does not specify a new drone order or fleet quantity.
