Russia’s uncrewed boat portfolio hints at future naval demand

Ukraine's Defence Intelligence has catalogued more than 20 Russian uncrewed boat designs, revealing a portfolio weighted toward support missions rather than explosive attack craft. Identified roles include reconnaissance, hydrographic survey, mine countermeasures, logistics and radio relay, while only a few designs such as wooden boats, Marlin and Vodyanoy are described as kamikaze systems. The variety suggests experimentation with distributed maritime functions and future operational demand. The catalogue is an analytical snapshot, however, and it does not show that every design is in serial production, deployed at scale or funded through confirmed procurement contracts.
