Russian T-90M Tank Repairs Now Compete With New Builds at the Same Plant
Uralvagonzavod is undertaking major repairs of combat-damaged T-90M tanks alongside production and modernization work, with circulating rail images showing severely damaged vehicles being transported to the plant. Tank analyst Andrei Tarasenko attributes the repair burden to deterioration of Russia's specialized armored-repair network and argues that factory overhauls can approach the cost of new construction. Oryx analyst Jakub Janovsky warns that repaired or further upgraded vehicles may be counted incorrectly as new production. The reporting identifies overlapping industrial workloads, but does not establish the repair quantity, current backlog or a measured reduction in new-tank output.
