Saab targets year-end opening of Michigan munitions plant to expand U.S. weapons production
Saab is targeting the fourth quarter of 2026 to open its new munitions manufacturing facility in Grayling, Michigan, expanding the Swedish company's industrial capacity inside the United States. The company broke ground in April 2025 and has begun moving staff into the site while the remaining assembly and integration buildings are completed. The factory is intended to support the manufacture of close-combat weapons and precision-fire equipment for U.S. demand, although the latest update does not identify specific production volumes. The installation is still moving toward operational readiness and should not be treated as an already commissioned, full-rate manufacturing plant.
