Saab wins $303 million order from Sweden for work on future combat aircraft

Sweden's defense procurement agency placed a SEK2.9 billion order with Saab for studies, technology development and demonstrators supporting a future combat-air system. Work will run from 2026 through 2028, with options that could extend activity to 2030. The program is intended to examine choices for the aircraft that may eventually follow Gripen, including how crewed platforms, uncrewed systems, sensors and digital engineering could operate together. It is a technology-maturation contract, not a decision to build or acquire a particular fighter design by the Swedish government and armed forces.
