Safran to double Texas turbojet capacity by 2028 to meet rising missile and drone demand and add Naval Strike Missile engine assembly
Safran Power Units plans to double turbojet production capacity at its Grand Prairie, Texas, site by 2028 in response to rising missile and uncrewed-aircraft demand. The expansion focuses on the TR40 engine family and will add local assembly of the engine used in the Naval Strike Missile. Safran said TR40 demand had quadrupled, prompting investment in equipment, workforce, and supply-chain capacity. The project strengthens U.S.-based propulsion output, although the company did not disclose the investment value, exact annual production targets, or binding customer volumes for the added capacity.
