Sikorsky Developing ‘Black Hawk Next’ As A Follow-On to UH-60M
Sikorsky is developing Black Hawk Next as a follow-on modernization approach for the UH-60M, combining propulsion, airframe, digital-system and autonomy upgrades. The concept centers on GE Aerospace's T901 engine, a strengthened structure, larger internal fuel tanks and a modular nose providing additional space for sensors and avionics. A digital backbone and MATRIX autonomy would support easier mission-system upgrades and integration of launched effects. Sikorsky's stated targets include at least 1,000 pounds more payload, 100 additional nautical miles of range and 45 minutes more time on station, with three further autonomous Black Hawks planned to gather soldier feedback.
