Sikorsky Unveils Containerized Nomad 100 VTOL UAS System
Sikorsky introduced Nomad Fast Pack, a 20-foot container holding four Nomad 100 vertical-takeoff-and-landing unmanned aircraft and their mission-command, power, communications and support equipment. The company says two aircraft can be prepared for missions in under 15 minutes, with the remaining pair available within four to six hours. The rotor-blown-wing aircraft is intended for intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance and targeting, light attack and contested logistics from ships, tactical sites and improvised landing zones. Nomad 100 completed initial ground and flight testing under DARPA's Evade demonstration in July, while the container announcement does not identify a production contract.
