Spanish Navy VSHORAD: Indra Taps Thales LMM Against Drones and Small Boats

Thales UK received a contract from Indra to integrate the Lightweight Multirole Missile into Spain’s SILAEM shipborne very-short-range air-defence system. The laser beam-riding LMM will provide a guided effector against unmanned aircraft, small surface craft and other short-range threats, with Thales also supplying the associated integration kit. SILAEM is a Spanish Navy program valued at about €51 million and is intended for installation across several classes of surface ship. The award covers missile integration within the broader system rather than a standalone ship procurement, and neither the number of missiles nor the fleet installation schedule was publicly disclosed.
