Sweden to buy Lockheed Martin's Himars artillery rocket system in $729 mln deal

Sweden has approved the purchase of Lockheed Martin's High Mobility Artillery Rocket System in a programme valued at roughly $729 million. The acquisition covers around 10 HIMARS launchers plus ammunition, giving Swedish forces a mobile, NATO-compatible long-range precision-strike capability that complements Archer tube artillery and other existing fires. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2027, and Sweden plans cooperation with Finland on training, maintenance, supply security and possible ammunition production. Public reporting identifies the approximate launcher total, but the detailed ammunition quantities and mix were not disclosed.
