Türkiye's MKE expands mobile artillery capabilities with Boran, Uran howitzers

Türkiye's state-owned MKE is expanding its 105 mm artillery family with the lightweight towed Boran and vehicle-mounted Uran. Boran weighs about 1,775 kilograms and has completed qualification, allowing helicopter transport to locations difficult to reach by road; Uran transfers the weapon to a 4x4 platform and is completing final qualification. MKE says Uran can fire 10 to 12 rounds per minute to roughly 18 kilometers, using stabilizers and modern fire control to support rapid shoot-and-scoot operations, but it has not yet joined the company's qualified product portfolio.
