Türkiye tests air defense missile on mobile system for 1st time

Türkiye conducted the first firing of a Sungur air-defence missile from Aselsan’s mobile Burç weapon system. The test demonstrated the vehicle-mounted combination against an aerial target, adding a missile layer to Burç’s sensor and gun-based counter-UAS functions. Mobility allows the system to protect manoeuvring units or relocate quickly after engagement, improving survivability compared with a fixed site. The event validates an integration step within Türkiye’s broader layered air-defence effort, but it does not establish production numbers, fielding dates or effectiveness against a representative spectrum of drones, aircraft and cruise missiles.
