TKMS and Fincantieri aim to establish underwater partnership by year-end and jointly pursue international naval contracts

TKMS and Fincantieri have signed a memorandum of understanding to deepen cooperation in submarines and underwater technologies, targeting a formal partnership framework by the end of 2026. The companies plan joint technology development, commercial initiatives and coordinated pursuit of international procurement opportunities, subject to regulatory, customer, competition and export-control approvals. The arrangement builds on decades of collaboration on the 212A and 212NFS submarine classes. It is not a merger or acquisition: both shipbuilders will remain independent, and their existing contracts and programmes are expected to continue unchanged.
