U.S. Air Force Moves to Strengthen Expeditionary Airfields With 54 Counter-Drone Systems

The U.S. Air Force is seeking up to 54 compact, man-portable counter-small UAS systems for the 621st Contingency Response Group to protect expeditionary airfields. The initial requirement calls for 12 C-UAS systems, alongside passive RF detection, portable electronic-warfare defeat and kinetic-defeat systems, with options that could expand the inventory. The requirement is designed to provide rapidly deploying Airmen with layered protection against Group 1 and Group 2 drones in austere or contested operating locations.
