U.S. Air Force names FQ-42 Vengeance and FQ-44 Fury, confirms 500 semi-autonomous combat aircraft by 2032 in planned 1,000-aircraft fleet

The U.S. Air Force designated General Atomics’ Increment 1 collaborative combat aircraft as FQ-42A Vengeance and Anduril’s design as FQ-44A Fury. The service says it plans to field 500 semi-autonomous CCAs by 2032 within a broader objective of roughly 1,000 uncrewed combat aircraft. These platforms are intended to add sensing, weapons capacity and survivable mass alongside crewed fighters at lower unit cost. The names formalise the first designs, but production quantities for each contractor, final mission configurations and operational basing remain subject to testing and acquisition decisions.
