U.S. Army awards conditional energy leases at six installations for battery gas and nuclear power projects

The US Army conditionally selected developers for long-term Enhanced Use Leases supporting energy projects at six installations. Ameresco, Indelible-Bloom and Frontier Power USA will evaluate combinations of battery storage, natural gas and nuclear generation at Aberdeen, Picatinny, Fort Detrick, Letterkenny, West Point and Tobyhanna. Under the model, private developers would finance, design, build, secure, operate and eventually decommission facilities while the Army remains the landowner. Projects could enter development as early as 2027 and target initial operation by 2030, but each remains subject to negotiations, environmental review and final approvals.
