U.S. Army Deploys SGT STOUT Air Defense Vehicle to Shield Howitzers From Drone Strikes

The U.S. Army employed SGT STOUT short-range air-defense vehicles during Saber Junction 26 in Germany to protect simulated howitzer positions from unmanned-aircraft attacks. Alpha Battery, 5th Battalion, 4th Air Defense Artillery Regiment supported the 173rd Mobile Brigade Combat Team at Hohenfels from August 27 to September 3. The Stryker A1 platform combines an XM914 30 mm cannon, Stinger missiles, a coaxial 7.62 mm machine gun, four hemispheric radars and electro-optical sensors, with Sentinel radar support. The event was a multinational training exercise rather than an announced operational combat deployment.
