U.S. Army Opens Depots To Drone Part Production To Fill Massive Demand
The Pentagon directed approximately six U.S. Army depots to manufacture drone components, supplementing private-sector production with government equipment and personnel. Facilities are being retooled for brushless motors, propellers, airframes, circuit cards, battery packs and other subassemblies, while Tobyhanna Army Depot opened a motor line capable of scaling above 500,000 units annually. The initiative forms part of the Army's $18.1 billion modernization of its 23-site Organic Industrial Base. Overall production targets remain undisclosed, while the separate Drone Dominance program supports private suppliers as the military expands both training stocks and operational drone manufacturing.
