U.S. Army Orders Three UH-60MX Black Hawk Helicopters to Expand Autonomous Flight Testing
The US Army has ordered three additional Sikorsky UH-60MX Black Hawk helicopters to expand trials of the company's MATRIX autonomous-flight technology. The aircraft use full-authority fly-by-wire flight controls and onboard autonomy intended to support crewed, reduced-crew and potentially uncrewed operations during experimental missions. The order follows delivery of an earlier UH-60MX test helicopter in March 2026 and increases the number of airframes available for Army evaluation of automated flight and mission management. These are dedicated development platforms rather than an announced conversion of operational Black Hawk units, and delivery dates for the additional helicopters were not specified.
