U.S. Army tests drone mothership that launches its own swarm

The U.S. Army’s XVIII Airborne Corps evaluated Modalic’s Autonomous Swarm Mothership during the Scarlet Dragon 26-3 exercise. The aircraft released smaller daughter drones in flight as part of a broader event examining unmanned systems and the tracking of saturated drone attacks. The demonstration showed that a larger uncrewed platform can deploy multiple subordinate aircraft after launch. The Army did not disclose a procurement plan or define the system as an operational reconnaissance-and-attack capability.
