U.S. Army Tests GPS-Denied Navigation on Mach 5 Hypersonic Aircraft for Future Weapons

General Dynamics Mission Systems and the US Army demonstrated the Multiple Orbit Navigation receiver aboard Stratolaunch's Mach 5-capable Talon-A hypersonic test aircraft. The compact, software-defined MO-Nav circuit card can process positioning and timing inputs from alternative satellite constellations, commercial navigation services and radio-frequency signals of opportunity when GPS is degraded or unavailable. The demonstration extends earlier artillery testing in which the receiver survived cannon-launch acceleration and supplied measurements to a munition's mission computer. General Dynamics and DEVCOM Aviation and Missile Center are funding further development, with a MOHAWK receiver incorporating M-Code planned for hypersonic demonstration in 2027 and guided-munition demonstrations in 2028.
