U.S. Army tests SGT STOUT counter-drone protection for airborne artillery during multinational Saber Junction 26 exercise in Germany

The US Army tested the SGT STOUT short-range air-defense vehicle in a counter-drone role while protecting airborne artillery during multinational exercise Saber Junction 26 in Germany. Integrating the system with maneuvering gun units allowed soldiers to rehearse detection, tracking, command coordination and engagement against uncrewed threats in a contested field setting rather than on an isolated range. Exercise employment provides operational feedback but does not prove every threat can be defeated, and lessons on sensor coverage, ammunition, communications, mobility and crew workload will inform tactics and future configuration decisions.
