U.S., Belgian F-35 pilots use linked simulators for eight-jet missions to strengthen combat readiness in first FENIX program

Nineteen Belgian and U.S. Air Force pilots completed the first five-day FENIX programme at RAF Lakenheath, using linked simulators to rehearse complex missions with an integrated eight-ship F-35 formation. Beginning August 21, the F-35 Emulated Non-Operational Flight Program Interoperability Experience joined Belgian students and instructors with U.S. instructor pilots in a common synthetic environment. The course supplements training at Luke Air Force Base, reintegrates recent graduates with experienced Belgian F-16 pilots transitioning to the F-35 and allows repeat practice without operational aircraft. Its immediate purpose is tactical interoperability and preparation for Belgium's 312th Fighter Squadron, not aircraft testing or combat deployment.
