U.S. Marine Corps fields Iron Dome-based air defense systems in Japan to counter cruise missile and drone threats in the Western Pacific
USMC has deployed Iron Dome-derived MRIC (Medium Range Intercept Capability) launchers in Japan to counter Chinese cruise missiles and UAS. The system uses Tamir interceptors and provides mobile short/medium-range point defense. First forward Pacific deployment marks operationalization after test milestones. Enhances III MEF stand-in force survivability.
