U.S. Marine Corps to test electric seaglider in the field
The U.S. Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory added $5 million to its agreement with REGENT, bringing the partnership's total value to $19.25 million for further testing of the Viceroy electric seaglider. Phase IV includes six deliverables covering full-scale vehicle trials in operationally relevant conditions and command-and-control integration. The wing-in-ground-effect craft takes off and lands on water and is designed to move rapidly across maritime distances, but the work remains an experimentation program intended to assess military utility rather than a commitment to buy an operational fleet.
