U.S. Navy Accelerates Tomahawk Production Citing ‘Current International Conflict’

The U.S. Navy plans to modify a 2019 SLAM-ER contract with General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems to accelerate production of Tomahawk warhead housings. A September 2 notice requires an undisclosed quantity within nine months for U/RGM-109E Tactical Tomahawk missile sections, citing immediate demand created by a current international conflict. First-article inspections must begin no later than the first quarter of 2027, allowing the Navy to avoid a new competition and supplier qualification process. The housings will support both newly manufactured and recertified Block IV and Block V Tomahawks.
