U.S. Navy orders $123M more Lionfish underwater drones
The U.S. Navy awarded HII a $123.4 million contract modification for additional Lionfish small unmanned underwater vehicles and related support, with work scheduled through December 2027. Based on the REMUS 300, Lionfish is a modular, two-person-portable system designed for depths around 305 meters and missions lasting up to 30 hours. The Navy did not disclose the quantity in this increment, but the order extends a 2023 program that could cover as many as 200 vehicles and broadens access to compact undersea reconnaissance and mine-countermeasure capacity.
