U.S. Navy orders new engine cores for its P-8A fleet

The US Navy awarded CFM International a firm-fixed-price contract with a ceiling of $489.7 million for replacement commercial-engine cores. The agreement can provide up to 24 CFM56-7B27AE cores, divided between Navy P-8A Poseidons and foreign military sales customers, plus one CFM56-7B24E core for a C-40A. It also covers shipping and support equipment through September 2031, with no funds obligated at award. Access to spare cores should reduce maintenance delays and sustain aircraft availability while damaged or time-expired engines undergo overhaul across domestic and allied operators.
