U.S. Navy plans contract for Lockheed Martin to integrate LRASM anti-ship missile on B-52
The US Navy intends to place a contract with Lockheed Martin to integrate the AGM-158C Long Range Anti-Ship Missile, or LRASM, onto US Air Force B-52 strategic bombers. The proposed work covers aircraft and weapon-interface modifications, software integration, engineering assessments, flight-test support and analysis of problems identified during trials. LRASM is an air-launched precision weapon designed to engage surface ships at standoff distances, potentially extending the B-52's maritime-strike options beyond its existing missile missions. The notice concerns a planned procurement action rather than a completed integration or operational clearance, with no confirmed contract value or fielding date.
