U.S. Navy Upgrades Virginia and Columbia Submarines With New 360° Infrared Imaging Masts

The U.S. Navy is upgrading Virginia- and Columbia-class submarines with new 360-degree infrared imaging masts. The photonics masts improve situational awareness. They enhance surveillance and targeting from periscope depth. The upgrade supports future submarine capability.
