U.S. State Arizona to Field Eight Gray Eagle 25M Drones, a National Guard First

General Atomics and the Arizona Army National Guard finalized plans for eight Gray Eagle 25M unmanned aircraft to arrive in September 2027. Arizona, associated with the 40th Infantry Division, will establish the Army National Guard's first company operating the upgraded Gray Eagle, with four additional units scheduled for fielding by the end of 2029. The Guard's longer-term objective is eight divisional UAS companies, while three units currently have congressional funding and are under contract. The aircraft will support combat missions overseas and domestic tasks such as disaster response, with the announcement describing future fielding rather than current operational service.
