UK keeps door open to more E-7 Wedgetails

Britain has left open the possibility of buying more E-7 Wedgetail airborne early-warning aircraft beyond the three currently funded. The fleet was reduced from an original plan for five, while the 2025 Strategic Defence Review recommended examining additional capacity. E-7 provides long-range radar surveillance and airborne command and control for fighters and allied forces; the first British aircraft reached RAF Lossiemouth in 2026. Ministerial openness does not constitute an order, and no funding, quantity, contract amendment or delivery schedule has been approved for the RAF.
