Ukraine combat experience shapes Redwire’s new drone

Redwire says operational experience from more than 250 Penguin drones delivered to Ukraine since 2022 shaped its new Penguin Mk3 and associated European support model. Feedback from contested electronic-warfare conditions influenced maintenance, training, configuration control, local repair, modularity, and rapid integration of new mission equipment. The public Mk3 configuration includes automated vertical take-off and landing, multiple payload bays, greater payload capacity, continuous mission-system power, winter provisions, and a compact two-person deployment footprint. An undisclosed NATO country has ordered the model under a multi-year contract valued in the high eight figures, with sustainment supported from Redwire’s European operations.
